The Montreal Canadiens can't possibly beat the Philadelphia Flyers in a seven game series and advance to play any of the remaining three teams of the Eastern Conference. Teams which would all be ranked higher than the Habs.
And no doubt thrilled that the Habs had surprised the Flyers like they'd surprised the Penguins.
But that was a fluke right? The Penguins were ripe for defeat and the Flyers are not.
I would agree, the Habs have no business beating the Flyers who are one of the hottest teams of the entire NHL and are of course decidedly favoured against the outmatched Canadiens.
The most the Habs can do is win two games and that's if the Canadiens play two perfect games and catch the Flyers napping before they look at themselves in the mirror and bury the Habs over the next four and win by a combined score of 12-1 or something equally ridiculous.
And that is how it could could go.
The recent playoff history is in favour of the Flyers, who are a much team than the Penguins who only got beaten by the Habs because it was a short series and Carey Price stole two of the games.
The Habs can't possibly keep doing what they did against the Penguins can they?
One would think not. But the games are played on the ice and not on paper and who honestly thought the Canadiens could defeat the Penguins?
Outside of Monntreal right?
The Habs are definitely in tough. But they can win.
The question is, will they. It's a tall order. But even a a four game sweep isn't going to make this fan of the Montreal Canadiens wish they'd lost to the Penguins so they had a chance at drafting Alexis Lafreniere.
Take the playoff experience of beating the Penguins for starters, then whatever experience they can gain from even a four game sweep at the skates and sticks of the Flyers.
And make no mistake, the series against the Penguins was the same as a playoff series.
I had the leftover Pizza to start the day, instead of waiting for breakfast because I didn't want to have to start with the writing because I'd ended yesterday with some drawing and I don't like to end and begin with the same.
It's just a thing.
So I have no breakfast and am going to write to the end of the quarter safe in the knowledge that I've already written past 300 words and have a chance at double that, even if none of that 600 word harvest is of the storied kind.
And if I can do that and follow-up with a similar second, even one that is half of this first, I'll be looking at a thousand word morning which is more than I've had since the first week when I was humming along and harvested 20 fields which I'm surely not going to harvest this week with the first three days that I've had in this second week.
Oh how nice it would be for a Stanley Cup parade in Montreal in September this year and not just because the haterz would be howling about this Cup above all the others for thirty years saying they didn't deserve too be in the playoffs at all and wouldn't have been in it if not for the Virus COVID.
And they would be right, this wouldn't have been the story in a regular season the way they had played since that fateful game in Washington when they were playing their best hockey and had played themselves into 4th in the Eastern Conference before the nightmare began.
But they still had to beat the Penguins who were recent Stanley Cup Champions in back to back years. And yes, 2016 and 2017 is recent.
Of course, I am maintaining that the Habs are owed for what happened in 1919 when the Spanish Flu caused the cancellation of the rest of the Finals in which the Habs had played to a two all series and we can but imagine what they would have done if that series had been played out.
Not that that matters to anyone outside of this apartment or definitely outside of Montreal.
The end of the quarter is right around the corner and I fell off after reaching the sixth row.
But it's been a good quarter, though it once again lacked any storying unless you think I'm spinning something of a tale grown tall about the hopes of the Montreal Canadiens having any chance at going on a run like they did in 2010 and 2014 where they made it to the Conference Finals and lost to the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Rangers respectively.
Not that I've said anything that isn't defensible.
The Habs can win, but it doesn't mean that they will.
Oh bother.
Why did it take how many clicks of the mouse for the time to show itself, which of course, as one would expect, was an annoyance?
Because it's old and going to stop working at some point.
Ugh. I need a new computer.
But that is easier said than done.
Of course, writing a million words is also easier said than done, especially after the first serious run at doing it in 2016 fell as short as it did.
Though what did I expect when it wasn''t until August that I gave the effort the time that it needed.
Only August was too late a start for the charge to a million words and would have required back to back months of nigh almost 150,000 words with one of those months being December, which is when Christmas is and that makes that kind of effort impossible without multiple days harvesting 100 fields, which is something I've done once a year for the past two but will never do more than once a year.
Last year's push to glory was early enough as it started in May, but I wouldn't recommend starting that late to anyone who might be thinking of trying to do what I did last year and am trying to do again this year, with an effort that already has me 61% of the way there.
And outside of the weeks like this one, I''ve been harvesting the words like I was serious about Millionizing this year too.
Okay, especially this week as on the fourth day of the writing week I haven't even written 5000 words, which isn't even half of what I should have harvested by this time in a good writing week.
That's enough writing about writing.
But it's too late into the final hour, when I am not feeling any stories to be thinking of striking out on any story.
“Hello down there. Are you okay?”Kumber said as he looked down at me, pretending like he hadn't forced me to crash. I looked up at him but held my tongue, metaphorically speaking and gave the most measured response that I could give.
“Yes, thank you. My craft suffered a catastrophic failure and I was lucky that the safety measures kicked in or I would have been killed.” I said, which was true, because the superpowers that I had recently developed were not going to mine for much longer. And soon enough, I'd be normal again. Though the adventures would continue and I would lament the loss of my powers. Powers that should have been mine for the rest of my days.
It's the final hour of the 3rd quarter and I am here to write a little even though this is the quarter that I most want to take it easy in for at least a could of days so that the 4th has a chance at catching up.
Wait, I'm going to have Pizza tonight?
That is tempting, though I have no reason to celebrate, or even looming reasons to celebreate as I still haven't returned to the writing of the big stories or any of the smaller stories that are inside my head, waiting to be shared.
But a Deluxe Pizza and a Litre of Coca Cola would sure taste better than beans and a pita.
And it's not like I'm going to be able to have Pizza tomorrow night as I'll need to get home in good time tomorrow for the Habs game against the Flyers.
Though I will be pvring the game and can stop off for the Pizza before I return home.
Decisions, decisions and more decisions.
I could have Pizza three nights in a row too.
That's how much I like it.
But I also have the pitas to eat and the beans will be enjoyed.
Part of the issue is that it is the beginning of the playoffs and I am watching the end of the 3rd period between the Tamp Bay Lightning and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The game is tied and the Lightning don't look like the team that got swept out of the 1st round by the not so same Blue Jackets.
They had a lot of turnover but still found their way to a rematch against the Lightning after they beat the Maple Leafs.
There will be overtime.
And the Dallas Stars vs Calgray Flames game is on
Lots of Hockey to be played.
Can you believe that the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Tampa Bay Lightning are still playing in the 4th Overtime?
Well, they are.
I wouldn't have missed much had I gone out to buy a Pizza and a bottle of Coca-Cola when I was thinking oof supper more than two hours ago.
Though that was the time of the rain and going out then would have gotten me drenched.
And I can't have Pizza every night.
As much as I would like to.
Except for Saturday, that's burgers, ideally beef, but but veal or Pork will serve as well.
It's in the 5th Overtime and the NHL has wisely decided that game one between the Boston Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes would be played tomorrow because there's so much time that must pass between the end of the this game and the beginning of what would have been that game.
Wow, the Blue Jackets just took a penalty and that would be a sucky way to end the game for them.
The Jacket had an attempted shortie and should have drawn a penalty.
Or not.
But if the Jackets can avoid losing because of a penalty that would be cool.
Yes, I am rooting for the Jackets against the Lightning.
2004 still smarts.
The Lightning just won. Brayden Point scored the winner deep into the 5th Overtime in a game that shouldn't have gone that far because the tying goal was kicked in by the Jackets' goalie.
Oh well, it's not the end of the series. The Jackets can bounce back.
I hope they bounce back.
Now it's time to see what might happen in the series between the other 13th seed that took advantage of an opportunity that wouldn't have happened in any other year as the Chicago Blackhawks also sucked like the Habs and beat the Oilers while the Habs beat the Penguins.
The Vegas Golden Knights are playing in their 3rd straight playoffs having never missed them, starting off with a bang in their inaugural season where they went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals where they lost to the Washington Capitals.
I stopped writing for a bit this quarter and what could have been...
Well it won't be.
And the what might have have been the harvesting of three fields for the first time since the first week.
Vegas just scored to take a 1-0 lead.
Ugh.
I don't care for the Golden Knights.
I'm sorry, but that's a stupid add to the name of the Knights. Knights would have been fine, though Golden Knights is better than the Kraken.
Stupid names as far as I'm concerned.
Though I am but one nobody writing for a small website that has just two subscribers.
And the Golden Knights scored again. This game is slipping away from the Blackhawks.
Hold on though, the Blackhawks are challenging the goal.
The goal stood
And now it's a power play.
It could be 3-0 in a hurry.
And the Oilers are thinking what the what. Where was this team when they played us.
Oh, would you look at that.
The Blackhawks just scored a shorthand goal. It's not as good as a 1-0 score, but they're still down by one.
Unless the Golden Knights score on this new power play.
I'm up against the end of the day and while I harvested two fields today, I could have harvested a lot more than what I did because I stopped writing.
I need to do better tomorrow.
