 I swear I saw a face
Or eyes and a mouth at least
In the newly orbiting planet
That's come to stay
As we seem to be attracting them
As this is the 3rd we've gathered
In the last three years

But who rightly cares
About the other two
Since they're old hat
This new one's where it's at
As it has people on it
And they are thriving
Whereas those first two
Had no one on them
As they were sadly barren
Of life advanced
And we have all the resources
That we could ever need
To care about what they offered

Only having brought them here
To orbit ours
The scuttlebutt is
That they're now locked in
And permanently orbiting
Though that is still
On the underweb only
It won't be long
Before everyone knows
And it becomes
The popular belief
Which the powers that be
Cannot like at all

But the underweb
Is just too big
For them to do
What past powers have done
And cut but through our ranks
Until those but left alive
Were cowed into silence
And didn't talk about a thing
That we knew would cost our lives

After all
They're led by a leader
Who lost a parent
To a curious death
That no one talks about
Which I believe
Can only mean
Well can only mean that
So why would he ever do
Such a terrible thing
To anyone else
Because that would be
A crime against
His own tragic tale

And it's just not in him
He's too much in the light
Plus I voted for him
And I just can't see myself
Choosing someone
Who could turn around
And show a darker face
Than what he's shown to date

So I'm not the least bit worried
Of dying soon
Especially at the hands
Of Kemma's own people
As that would be
How it was done
As those previous leaders
Who did that thing
Had squads of death
That only answered to them

And if he did what I'm sure
That he'll never do
That's how he'd do it then

So I said I saw a face
Or the greatest part of one
When I looked to the sky last night
But I was tired then
And surely didn't see
What I thought I saw
Because when I looked this morning
The face was gone
And looking as
It's looked but since
It was brought right here
Just a month ago

No it's not a recency thing
That I'm most interested in
The newest planet
That orbits ours
It's because they havc people
That we're sure to meet
And soon I think
As that is ever the way
When it's a new day
With a brand new planet
In our backyard

And it's even more exciting
That they're a thriving civilization
Which is exciting to say the least
As we can only imagine
What we'll find
When we get to meet them
Because it can only be good I'm sure

Yeah I didn't see a face
I know that yes
As a rational being
But the idea that I did
Yes haunts me still
And I can't shake the feeling
Though this will surely pass
And I'll forget
I ever thought I saw
What I surely didn't see
Because I was tired
When I thought I saw that thing
