“But why can't I touch this thing
What terrible harm
Will come about
If I should touch it
Like how human children
Like to put their tongue
To metal in winter
Only I'd be using my extremities
As I don't have a tongue
And wouldn't no
Even if I did
Because I'm just too smart”
“Whether you touch it with tongue
Or touch it with hands
You're touching it still
And that's the cause of trouble
So don't dare touch it
Unless you wish to unleash
A wave of misery
Across the world itself
All because you lacked the sense
To listen to your better
Which is me”
The Cloaked man said
With much disgust
As he looked at me
Like I was an utter fool
Because this was something dark and terrible
That it couldn't possibly be
Of the kind of danger
That he suggests
Because that'd be a stupid of its own
Leaving a dangerous thing
For anyone to wreck
“I think it more likely
That you want the good
That's locked inside
For your own damn use
Which is why you're warning me away
Because wearing a cloak
Doesn't mean you're above
The lesser desires
Of beings like me
So you'll have to act
To stop me now
As words alone
Are not enough
To dissuade me no”
And with that said
I moved towards
The strange stone piece
That had drawn my attention
Since I first laid my eyes
But on it yes
“Don't roll any closer
Or you'll force me to act
When I don't want to
Because the only action
That I can take against you
Will take you from your life
And I don't want to do that
But I will if I must”
He said as he began to float
and made a gesture
That could only be seen
As one but ready for striking
“What right do you even have
Like where's your authority
To stop me from doing
What I now intend to do
Though I wasn't intending before
Your desire to stop me
Is just too great
So my curiosity is piqued
To say the least”
I said to him
With a smile on my face
As I was sure that he wouldn't
Or even couldn't
Do much to stop me
Not form over there
And floating as he was
Didn't mean he was fast as well
“Never you mind
About the authority I have
Just accept
That I have it yes
And that I'm not afraid
To use it no
It's just that I'm being kind to you
Because you're of the ice and snow
And your life is short
And where I'll send you
Could well but end it
Much far sooner
Than it should end
Since what you insist
On doing today
Would bring about a trouble
That wouldn't be
If you just listened to reason”
He said with the same resolve
That I but had
“So reason you say
Well I don't agree
And I have to touch the rock
No matter the claims
That you care to make
It can't be the trouble that you say it is
Because only monsters
Would leave but such a troubling thing
For others to find
So I reckon it's treasure
That you don't wish to share
Which I could surely use”
“Oh Foolish Snow
You think that care for that
My needs are simple
And I've never had no longing
For material wealth
And have the life
That I long to have
And am most insulted
That you think I'd be so wanting
Of what I don't need”
And as I continued to move
Towards the rock
With an unexpected resolve
The figure in the cloak
Raised his hands
And made a series of moves with them
Which caused an energy
To come but forth
And moments later
I was enveloped yes
And gone from where I'd been
I screamed in pain
As I was ripped from the world
And cruelly so
I angrily thought
As he had no right
To send me away
When he could have stopped me
But differently than he did
Like socked me in the face
Instead of sending me away
To where but God only knows
And all I can hope
Is that it's a world where it snows
But based on what he said
I won't be so lucky
And have to worry
That I'll soon be dead
And for what I wondered
For the terrible sin
Of curiosity
Which anyone would surely have
Oh he had to pay
For what he'd done to me
The air was cold at least
Just terribly dark
And I had to wonder
What the light would bring
Because I could only imagine
I was sadly afraid
It wouldn't be good
Again for what he'd said
Which made me think
That he wasn't any kind of good
So no certain justice
Was sure to befall him
